Weekend Update: A barricaded suspect, a quelled car race, and a prowler with a knife.

On Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at approximately 1:40 p.m., CMPD responded to a call regarding an altercation including criminal threats to a female acquaintance. Officers arrived at the 1800 block of Anaheim Avenue and attempted to make contact with the suspect, Steven Krebbs, 38, Costa Mesa, but were impeded by Krebb’s girlfriend, Brynn Holland, 36, Costa Mesa. Holland was arrested for obstruction.
Krebbs, who was alone in the apartment and was believed to be armed, refused to leave the apartment. After more than an hour of trying to negotiate with Krebbs, SWAT was activated, and Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue, the HB1 helicopter and Newport Beach SWAT assisted. At approximately 8:30 p.m., Krebbs surrendered.
A search warrant for the apartment was served and CMPD located and seized multiple firearms. Krebbs was arrested for criminal threats and assault with a deadly weapon.

On Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at approximately 11:10 p.m., several CMPD officers responded to the area of Pullman Street and Kalmus Avenue regarding a report of a large amount of vehicles racing in the area. Officers, assisted later by HB1, found at least 300 vehicles in the area setting up for races on Kalmus. Officers successfully dispersed the crowd after about 20-25 minutes.

On Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at approximately 4:55 a.m., CMPD responded to the 3300 block of Nevada Avenue regarding a man looking into and tampering with vehicles. A neighbor told the suspect, Trinity Crummie, 37, Santa Ana, to leave. Crummie then pulled a knife out of an arm sheath. Officers arrived and found Crummie hiding in the bushes. He was wearing shin guards on both forearms. Sheathed in the guards were several fixed blade kitchen knives. Crummie was taken into custody without incident and arrested for brandishing a knife, prowling, a parole warrant, and failure to register as a sex registrant.
