PRESS RELEASE/PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Incident 2017-27376
On Monday, December 4, 2017 at 0723 Hours, officers responded to the Princeton Terrace Apartments on a report that a B/M wearing gold sneakers had just entered a running vehicle and attempt to steal the same. However, presumablly due to the vehicle being equipped with a manual transmission, the actor was unable to drive the vehicle. The actor fled on foot and entered into an awaiting Ford Taurus. The Ford turned left (illegally) onto Clarksville Road Southbound. Sgt. Lai and Sgt. Bal intercepted the Ford moments afterward without incident. The B/M, a 16 year old juvenile from Willingboro, NJ, was taken into protective custody. The juvenile was also found to be in possession of (10) one gram bags of Marijuana.
**The WWPD continues to request that you do not leave your vehicles running with the keys in the ignition (for a number of reasons) especially while they're unsecured/unattended. There has been a rise of this type of car theft. We want our community to be as safe as possible. This situation could have had a much worse outcome for everyone involved. Clearly, our dispatchers and officers are at the ready if and when something happens in our Township. #359
