Rural Crime Task Force serves search warrant and find a fighting bird operation, illegal weapons and narcotics

INCIDENT: Animal Cruelty, Possession of Short Barreled Shotgun, Weapon with Serial Number Removed, Honey Oil Lab, Marijuana Cultivation
LOCATION: 11900 Block of Sierra Vista Road, Phelan
SUSPECT: Michael Richard Graciano, 53 years old, of Phelan
SUMMARY:
Detectives and deputies from the Victor Valley Station served a search warrant at the Sierra Vista Road address for evidence of a fighting game bird operation. The department’s Rural Crime Task Force deputies, Rob Oakleaf and Randy Stanley, gathered information on the large bird compound.
The Rural Crime Task Force coordinated with San Bernardino County Animal Control Officers to assist with the investigation. In all, 119 fighting roosters were seized. There were many roosters housed in separate cages on the property. Game bird fighting implements, supplements and bird fighting publications were also seized.
During the investigation, illegal weapons were located as well as an illegal marijuana honey oil lab and an outside marijuana grow. The Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team responded and assisted with the investigation.
Michael Graciano was booked at the High Desert Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $540,000.00 bail.
