On Thursday, December 7, the Redwood City Fire Department and his family will be honoring the life of retired Firefighter Jeff Timms at a funeral service from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel on Woodside Road. As a result, we wanted to make sure the community was aware of partial, temporary, and longer-term lane closures, limited parking impacts, and other traffic issues. If possible, we encourage the community to avoid Woodside Road between Union Cemetery and Hess Road from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Additional details are as follows:
In the morning, a formal Redwood City Fire Department and Redwood City Police Department escort will take place from Sunnyvale to Redwood City. As a result, at approximately, 10 - 10:45 a.m., the community may experience short-term traffic impacts on Northbound Highway 280 and Woodside Road at Hess Road. The right turn lane on Woodside Road at Hess Road will be closed from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., with vehicles able to turn right onto Hess from the right-hand lane of Woodside Road. In addition, parking at the Community Activities Building will be used as parking overflow for funeral attendees, from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. As a result, there may be limitations to public parking at the Community Activities Building during this timeframe. Various shuttles will be transporting funeral attendees to and from the funeral services at Crippen & Flynn, from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. and the public may experience increased traffic as a result on Woodside Road, Hudson Street, Oak Avenue, Roosevelt Ave, Sanchez Way, and Hess Road. Please be mindful of these impacts and take alternate routes if possible.
