Homicide Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a man shot in the 1400 block of Knox Street

Run Type: Person shot/Homicide Investigation

Incident address: 1400 Knox Street (SE30)

INDIANAPOLIS--On December 6, 2017, at approximately 12:57 p.m., IMPD officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Knox Street on the report of a person shot.  Upon arrival, officers located a male inside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) responded and transported the male to Eskenazi Hospital. Despite the best life-saving efforts by emergency medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries a short time after arriving at the hospital.  
 
Homicide detectives responded to the incident scene and began canvassing the area for witnesses.  At this point in the investigation, detectives are unsure of the possible motive or suspect(s) information for this incident. The Marion County Forensic Services Agency also responded to the scene to assist with identifying and collecting forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The name of the victim can be obtained from the MCCO after proper identification and next-of-kin notification.
