Dear Residents,
Season's Greetings! With the holidays soon approaching, many of our residents take the time (and money) to invest in Christmas lights to decorate their homes. Last year, I noticed an upswing in the amount of reports of these types of lights being vandalized. I'm sad to say that I've already seen too many reports of this same behavior this year, as well- with reports of lights being damaged or cut on Barn Swallow Lane, Dogwood Lane, and Spring White Drive, to name a few.
Simply put, I ask that you, as good neighbors, help the UMTPD to curb these crimes in your neighborhood. If you are a neighbor that works a night shift schedule or tends to be up late at night, go out of your way to observe unusual persons and situations in your neighborhood. If you have a security camera, be sure that the lens is clear and that your outside porch/garage/post lights are on during non-daylight time periods. Lastly, communicate with your neighbors. Talk with them about what you are seeing and if you feel something is suspicious. You never know, it may help us solve a crime.
As always, we are here for you, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. See something unusual? Call us. Notice damage to your lights? Call us. We are eager to arrest and fully prosecute those responsible for these crimes, but we need your help to do so!
