Suspect Arrested in Early Morning Janesville Burglaries
In the early morning hours of 12/5/2017 Janesville Police Officers responded to two separate burglary reports on Janesville’s north side. The first occurred at 3:42 a.m. at the Woodman’s gas station at 2915 N. Lexington Dr. after an alarm came in for the business. Forced entry was found and it was determined that cigarettes were taken. The suspect had left prior to officer’s arrival. At about 6:00 a.m., an alert employee of Woodman’s noticed a Mason Galvan had just posted on the Janesville Swapmeet Facebook page selling cartons of cigarettes matching those stolen in the burglary.
At 6:46 a.m. an employee of Walgreens, 2519 Kettering St., called to report a subject trying to break into the business by smashing windows with a pipe and propane tank. The employee was inside and the business was not yet open. As officers arrived, the suspect was gone. Mason Galvan, the suspect from the prior incident, showed an address of 3019 E. Rotamer Rd. Due to the close proximity of the Walgreens, officers went to his address and found him outside. His clothing matched that of the incident at Walgreens. Video surveillance from Woodman’s confirmed Galvan as the suspect, and cigarettes matching those taken were found in his home.
Galvan was arrested for both incidents and is in custody at the Rock County Jail.
