Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Flemington Borough Police Chief Jerry Rotella announced the arrest of two individuals after an investigation by detectives from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Flemington Borough Police Department.

According to Prosecutor Kearns, “On Sunday, at approximately 4:48 am, Flemington Borough Police officers responded to the Hunter Hills Apartments for the report of a gunshot victim. The initial report received by the responding police officers also indicated the suspected gunman was in a residence at the apartment complex. It was later determined the victim was not wounded by a gunshot but was involved in an argument with two men and was physically assaulted. The male victim was transported by helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick.”

As a result of the investigation, Maynor R. Dominguez, age 29, of Flemington, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, a 2nd degree crime, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a 4th degree crime, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, a 3rd degree crime. Oscar A. Dominiguez, age 26, of Flemington, was arrested and charged with Simple Assault, a 4th degree crime. The defendants were lodged in the Somerset County Jail.

Prosecutor Kearns added, “To ensure the safety of our citizens and emergency responders, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office SWAT team was dispatched to the scene and the suspects were safely taken in to custody.”

The Readington Township Police Department, Flemington Raritan Rescue Squad and the Hunterdon County Office of Emergency Management responded and assisted at the scene.

The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
