The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

November 30th

0840 Hours: Officer Palacios investigated an auto burglary at Newark Buffet, 35201 Newark Boulevard. The loss was a laptop computer.

1003 Hours: Officer Palacios responded to a report of an intoxicated male standing in the intersection of Forestwood Drive and Winwood Lane. Officer Palacios contacted and arrested a 56-year-old San Jose male for public intoxication. The suspect was subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1509 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated an auto burglary at the Comfort Inn, 5977 Mowry Avenue. The loss was miscellaneous tools.

1911 Hours: Officer Lenz investigated a package theft on the 5600 block of Pandorea Terrace.

2027 Hours: Officer Rivera accepted the citizen’s arrest of a shoplifter in custody at Macy’s, NewPark Mall. The suspect, a 38-year-old Oakland male was issued a citation and released.

December 1st

0912 Hours: Officer Palacio and Field Training Officer Ackerman conducted a probation search of a room at the Homewood Suites, 39270 Cedar Boulevard. A 54-year-old Fremont male was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1028 Hours: Officer Rivas lead a team of Officers on a probation search on the 37200 block of Walnut Street. A 42-year-old Newark male was arrested for possession of the fraudulent checks and identity theft. A 33-year-old Newark female was arrested for possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were booked into the Fremont Jail.

1406 Hours: Officers responded to 36451 Dijon Drive on a report of a residential burglary that just occurred. There is no known loss at this time.

1432 hours: Officer Palacio accepted a citizen’s arrest of a 19-year-old female at JC Penney’s, NewPark Mall for embezzlement. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1853 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 43-year-old Pittsburg male for his outstanding warrant in the City Hall parking lot. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2324 Hours: Officer Khairy responded to a disturbance on the 6000 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue. A 35-year-old Alameda female was arrested for public intoxication and booked into the Fremont Jail.

December 2nd

0716 Hours: Officer Ackerman investigated the theft of a white 2000 Honda Civic (CA License #4WBF140) on the 37200 block of Birch Street.

0835 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated the attempted theft of a vehicle and an auto burglary on the 3500 block of Maidstone Place. The loss was an iPad and a pair of eyeglasses.

2124 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated a theft from a vehicle at the Lion Food Center, 39055 Cedar Boulevard. The loss was vehicle registration documents, the vehicle’s license plate and the victim’s paycheck.

0132 Hours: Officer Sandoval conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle with expired registration and driving recklessly through the Newark Square shopping center parking lot (Thornton Avenue at Cedar Boulevard). The driver, a 43-year-old Newark male was arrested on his outstanding warrant and booked into the Fremont Jail.

December 3rd

1122 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated an auto burglary on the 37100 block of Sycamore Street. The loss was a paintball gun, running shoes, hand truck dolly and black duffle bag.

1206 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated an auto burglary on the 8300 block of Juniper Street. The loss was a set of drills, residential AC meters and a tube bender.

1317 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated an auto burglary in the NewPark Mall parking lot. The loss was vehicle registration, a garage door opener and miscellaneous clothing.

1237 Hours: Officer Quinonez responded to a disturbance at the Safeway Store, 5877 Jarvis Avenue. A 54-year-old Newark male was arrested for disorderly conduct / under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1648 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated a vehicle vandalism case at Bath Fitters, 8371 Central Avenue. Six vehicles had their fuel lines cut and gas siphoned.

1703 Hours: Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 34-year-old San Leandro male for credit fraud, receiving known stolen property and probation violation in the NewPark Mall parking lot. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2228 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an auto burglary on the 34900 block of Newark Boulevard. The loss was a backpack containing three notebook computers, makeup and a graphing calculator.
