Train with a World Champion at Fairfield PAL!
Join the PAL Kajukenbo Club and enhance your martial arts skills, track your progress with belts and more under the guidance and support of a World Champion!
The Fairfield Police Activities League’s (PAL) Kajukenbo Club recently awarded new belts to the following PAL members:
Chase Davis, Orange Belt
Erick Granados Avlez, Orange Belt
Johnny Guidos, Orange Belt
Rafael Ortiz, Blue Belt
Kajukenbo belts provide a goal for members to strive towards and accomplish. Most importantly, each belt provides a base line to help students track their progress and mastery of the sport.
The program is led by Coach Anthony Marquez. He has been the kickboxing and martial arts teacher for the PAL program since it opened in November of 2008. His successful teaching career in martial arts started in 1978, when he began teaching self-defense to women and children in Hawaii. In 1982, he won the Professional World Karate Association Full Contact Championship, which is a title he held until his retirement in 1989. Coach Anthony’s classe’s focus on building a strong mind, body and spirit connection. He promotes humility, respect for others, and most importantly, respect for oneself while teaching basic and advanced skills.
Kajukenbo builds more than martial arts and self-defense skills. Members also:
- increase their flexibility, strength, and endurance
- develop patience, self-control, self-respect and discipline
- practice teamwork, make new friends, and strengthen connections with the PAL program
Kajukenbo is an American hybrid martial art. The name Kajukenbo is a portmanteau of the various arts from which its style is derived: KA for Karate and Tang Soo Do Korean Karate, JU for Judo and Jujutsu, KEN for Kenpo and BO for Western and Chinese Boxing.
