Juvenile attempts suicide by walking in front of moving train; juvenile is in critical condition

SUMMARY:
On November 29, 2017, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to a call of a pedestrian hit by a train.
Upon arrival, deputies learned the female juvenile walked onto the railroad tracks and stopped in front of a train traveling westbound, in the area of Interstate 15 and D Street. The train’s conductor saw the female and applied the emergency brake, slowing the train significantly, but was unable to stop before striking her.
The female was transported to a local hospital and subsequently flown to a nearby trauma center. She was last reported to be in critical but stable condition.
