INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon Causing Great Bodily Injury

LOCATION: Maverick Place / El Evado Road

SUSPECT: Darren Lamar Scott, 30-year old Victorville resident

VICTIM: San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy


SUMMARY:
On Thursday, November 23, 2017, a deputy from the Victorville Police Department conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Maverick Place and El Evado Road. When the deputy asked the driver, Darren Lamar Scott, to exit the vehicle he refused. Scott rolled up the windows and sped away, leading deputies on a short pursuit that ended when Scott collided with an unoccupied vehicle on Queen Valley Road. Scott fled on foot jumping fences through the neighborhood. As the deputy came over a fence Scott hit him with a heavy object, causing injury to his back. Due to the injury, the deputy was unable to continue following Scott, who fled the scene. The deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is now recovering at home.

An extensive investigation was conducted, leading to Scott turning himself in to the Victorville Police Department on November 28, 2017. Scott was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon, causing great bodily injury.
