Man Arrested After Crashing Into Three Police Cars and Knocking Down a Utility Pole during Motor Vehicle Pursuit

Suffolk County Police today arrested a man after he failed to pull over during a traffic stop, and led officers on a motor vehicle pursuit in Mastic early this morning.

A Seventh Precinct officer observed a man in a 2006 Chevrolet Suburban driving erratically on Winters Drive in Mastic, at approximately 12:40 a.m.  The officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, and the driver, Robert Noon, fled eastbound on Sunrise Service Road North, then northbound on Barnes Road, then southbound on Weeks Avenue toward a dead-end. Noon turned the Suburban, crashed into three police cars, and continued back to Barnes Road southbound. Noon eventually lost control of the vehicle on Moriches-Middle Island Road, crashed into a utility pole, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Police officers apprehended Noon near the intersection of Campbell Drive and Keller Drive at 12:53 a.m. There were no injuries.

Noon, 20, of 25 Sweetbriar Drive, Mastic, was charged with three counts of Criminal Mischief 3nd Degree, three counts of Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer, Driving with a Suspended License, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, as well as a number of traffic violations.  He is being held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
