Sunnyvale, CA. -  On November 23rd, at 8:40 p.m., Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers and Santa Clara Fire Department personnel responded to the intersection of Lawrence Expressway and Monroe Avenue on the report of a major injury collision involving three vehicles. It was determined the accident occurred within the city of Santa Clara. As a result of the collision, an 89-year-old female passenger from one of the vehicles was transported to the hospital, but did not survive her injuries. The driver of one of the other involved vehicles, 21-year-old Oscar Pazarciga was determined to be driving under the influence. He was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. He was later booked at County jail after treatment of his injuries.

The Sunnyvale Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating the collision.
