Homicide Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to Southeast district on a report of a Dead on Arrival

Updated news release-Coroner update.


INDIANAPOLIS- On November 24, 2017, at 5:30pm, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were dispatched on a DOA run on Southeast district -30.
 
Run Type: Dead on Arrival (DOA)
 
Incident location: 4534 Stone Mill Drive (South East -30)
 
Involved Citizen: Two unidentified individuals located inside the home with apparent trauma.
 
Community Message: The information contained in this release may be updated or deleted when investigators are able to release official information.

Coroner Update: At the request of the Marion County Coroner, the victims have been positively identified as Meredith Opel 20yrs. old, and Mallory Jackson 27yrs. old. Please withhold further inquiry regarding these victims until an autopsy is performed.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began canvassing the area and speaking to witnesses.  The Indianapolis – Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist with identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The name of the victim can be obtained from the MCCO after proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
