An argument leads to a shooting and an 80 year old Fontana man is arrested for attempt murder

INCIDENT: Attempt Murder
LOCATION: 14235 Upas Court, Fontana
VICTIM: Lydell Gordon, 63 years old, resident of Palmdale
SUSPECT: Wallace Thomas, 80 years old, resident of Fontana
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, November 23, 2017 at 4:57 p.m., Fontana Station deputies responded to a shooting at a residence in the unincorporated area of Fontana. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, later identified as Lydell Gordon, in the backyard of the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Detectives determined that the homeowner, Wallace Thomas and Lydell Gordon were involved in an argument and Thomas shot Gordon following that argument. Gordon was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he was treated for traumatic injuries. A firearm belonging to Thomas was later recovered during a search warrant of Thomas’ residence.
Lydell Gordon remains hospitalized.
Wallace Thomas was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for attempt murder.
Detectives determined that Gordon and Thomas are acquainted through family members.
