Homicide Investigators arrest Richard Gerdelman for the murder of Andrew Spencer

INCIDENT: Murder Investigation
LOCATION: 300 block of Maple lane, Sugar Loaf
SUSPECT: Richard Gerdelman, 33 years old
VICTIM: Andrew Spencer, 48 years old
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 8:15 p.m., paramedics were called to the 300 block of Maple Lane in Sugar Loaf because someone was honking a horn and yelling for help. Paramedics arrived on scene and found Spencer unconscious in his car. Paramedics treated Spencer for a stab wound and transported him to Bear Valley Hospital. While at Bear Valley Hospital, Spencer was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he was placed on life support. On November 22, 2017 at 8:45 p.m., Spencer died from his injuries.
Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators responded and conducted an investigation. Following their investigation, including an interview with Richard Gerdelman, investigators arrested Gerdelman for Spencer’s murder.
Investigators determined Gerdelman and Spencer were acquaintances.
