INCIDENT: Crosswalk Enforcement
LOCATION: Washington Street/Bailey Avenue, Needles
SUMMARY:
Increasing traffic safety is an integral part of the Sheriff's strategic plan. In an ongoing effort to further this goal, deputies are being deployed in the school zones around Needles and will be issuing citations to those drivers who violate the pedestrian right-of-way, and the orders given by school crossing guards.
On November 22, 2017, deputies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department conducted an enforcement action along Washington Street and Bailey Avenue. Over the course of the morning, one citation was issued for CVC 2815 - Failure to Obey School Crossing Guard.
Drivers are reminded to yield to all pedestrians in designated crosswalks and obey the school crossing guards during school hours. Additional enforcement efforts will be conducted throughout the school year to ensure traffic safety near Needles schools.
