Janesville Police arrest Everett Tipler after a vehicle pursuit and crash in the downtown area
On 11/22/17 at 1:38 A.M. Officer Schmall observed a vehicle traveling Northbound on North Main Street in the area of Pease Court without any headlights operating. Officer Schmall got behind the vehicle to initiate a traffic stop, at which time the vehicle began accelerating Eastbound on Pease Court. The operator later identified as Everett Tipler pulled to the side of the roadway on Pease Court and Cornelia and a passenger exited the vehicle. Tipler accelerated away from Officer Schmall at which point a vehicle pursuit began. Tipler fled Westbound on Prospect to Parker Drive failing to stop at the stop sign at Prospect Ave and N. Parker Drive. Tipler fled Southbound on Parker Drive failing to stop at the traffic light at N. Parker Drive and Milwaukee St. at which point the pursuit was terminated because of the inherent risk to the public.
Tipler continued Southbound on Parker Drive onto the lawn of the Lower Court House. Tipler’s vehicle became airborne, and came to a rest on its roof next to the Marvin Roth Community Pavilion. Tipler exited the vehicle and ran a short distance before being taken into custody by officers. A female passenger was assisted out of the vehicle by officers. The female passenger did not suffer any injuries as a result of the crash.
Tipler was transported to Mercy Hospital by Janesville Fire Department Paramedics for complaints of leg pain. Tipler was later held at the Rock County Jail pending his initial court appearance.
