Search Warrant – Indoor Grow – Valley Springs

(VALLEY SPRINGS, CA) On 11/16/2017, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Calaveras County Code Compliance attempted to conduct a compliance inspection of a registered indoor personal marijuana grow site in the 3500 block of Dunn Road in Valley Springs. Deputies were unable to make contact with anyone at this residence but heard movement and a cell phone ringing inside. Deputies obtained a search warrant for the residence and after receiving no answer at the front door, entry was made. Upon entry Deputies came into contact with a male subject, Lin Bin Wei (age 66 from Chicago, Illinois). Lin was in a bedroom and was not complying with the deputies’ commands. He was detained and later arrested for 11358(c)H&S – illegal cultivation of marijuana.
261 marijuana plants were eradicated from the areas of the residence where growing was not permitted. These plants were being grown illegally and separate from an additional 200 square feet of permitted growing area. Approximately 43 lbs of processed marijuana was seized. The registered grows located inside the residence were measured and determined to be over the permitted square footage. An additional 21 marijuana plants were seized from these areas. Lin Bin Wei was booked into the Calaveras County Jail on $15,000 bail.
