INCIDENT:     Cold Case Homicide Investigation - Arrest   
 
LOCATION:   Lytle Creek, San Bernardino County
 
VICTIM:          Timothy Morris, 32 years old at time of death
 
SUSPECT:      John Cory Broyles, (aka: John McKinney, “C-Note”), 24 years old at time of homicide
 
SUMMARY:
On March 3, 2000, Sheriff’s Fontana Station deputies responded to a found body off the side of a road near Lytle Creek.  Deputies arrived and located the body of Timothy Morris. The cause of death was gunshot wound(s).  During the investigation, investigators learned Morris resided with his cousin, Carmen Worthey in San Bernardino.  Investigators also learned that brothers, John McKinney and Brad McKinney, stayed at Worthey’s apartment for a few days in early March 2000.  During surveillance, investigators observed John exiting Worthey’s apartment.  John was contacted and arrested for an outstanding warrant and interviewed.  John was identified as a potential suspect, but there was not enough evidence to prosecute him.  Investigators followed up with leads, but eventually the case went cold and remained unsolved.  
 
Updated Information:
In 2017, the Cold Case Team re-investigated the homicide.  On October 18, 2017, Cold Case Investigators Salsberry and Tesselaar traveled to Illinois and arrested John for PC 187-Murder.  John was booked for PC 187-Murder in Madison County, Illinois.  On November 15, 2017, John was extradited to San Bernardino County and booked into West Valley Detention Center.
