Homicide suspect identified, arrested and charged with Murder
*Homicide Update*
Detectives have arrested the extended family member who was involved in the struggle with the victim. The suspect, 46 year old John Ashley Gordon of Union City, was charged with Murder by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. Gordon is currently being held at Santa Rita Jail.
On Thursday November 9th, Union City Police responded to the 4400 block of Lisa Dr. for a report of an unresponsive male (victim) lying in the middle of the street. Efforts by paramedics to revive the victim were unsuccessful and he died at the scene. There were no apparent signs of trauma, however witnesses told police that the victim had been in a heated argument and struggle prior to police arrival.
It was later determined that the victim, a 64 year old male, was involved in an argument and struggle with an extended family member. The reasons for the argument and struggle are still being investigated by detectives. It is believed that the victim died from a medical event brought on by the struggle with the suspect. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of the family by the Alameda County Coroners Bureau.
