Lifesaving Medal - Officer Martin Enriquez

On 11-8-17 the Pomona Police Department held an awards ceremony to recognize individual Department members and citizens who have distinguished themselves through heroism, or extraordinary dedicated service to the Department or the City of Pomona.

The following story is related to Officer Martin Enriquez being awarded the Lifesaving Medal.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

On June 11th, 2016, Officer Martin Enriquez was working uniformed patrol when he was dispatched to a residence on a CPR call involving a heart transplant patient.  When Enriquez arrived he found an unresponsive 16 year old male on the kitchen floor.

Officer Enriquez calmly made an assessment and discovered the victim was not breathing and did not have a pulse.  Enriquez immediately began CPR.  At one point, Enriquez was able to recover a pulse and some responsiveness from the victim, only to lose both a short time later.

LA County Fire arrived on scene and a paramedic assisted Enriquez with continued CPR.  Ultimately their efforts were rewarded with a pulse.  The victim was then transported to Pomona Valley hospital for further medical care.

After the incident, the Paramedic told a PD supervisor that it was only with Officer Enriquez’ efforts that the victim was still alive.

For his efforts, Officer Martin Enriquez was awarded the Lifesaving Medal.
