**UPDATE-ARREST** Elderly male struck and killed in hit and run accident

UPDATE
INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Hit and Run detectives are pleased to announce that they have made an arrest in the hit and run accident that killed Roger Roska on 11/01/2017.

57-year-old Jose Hernandez has been arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident involving death. The arrest occurred after detectives were able to determine the make and model of the suspect vehicle from evidence at the scene. They were then able to locate Mr. Hernandez and the vehicle. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will review the case and make a charging decision.

UPDATE

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Accident Investigators have released updated suspect vehicle information as they seek to locate and identify the vehicle and driver with the public's assistance. 

The suspect vehicle is described as  dark in color, 1994-2002 Dodge Ram, which had a camper shell at the time of the crash. Detectives believe that there will be damage to the front passenger side, including the grill.

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Accident Investigators are seeking the public's assistance in locating and identifying the suspect vehicle involved in the fatal hit and run accident that killed 72-year-old Roger Roska on 11/01/2017.

Detectives believe the suspect vehicle to be 1994-2002 Dodge Ram Pickup, Unknown color at this time.

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Accident Investigators respond to hit and run accident that left an elderly male dead. 

Just after 7:40 p.m. on 11/01//2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the 2500 block of W Morris St on reports of a person struck. Responding officers located an unresponsive 72-year-old male on the side of Morris St. Officers immediately began administering chest compressions until EMS personnel arrived. EMS transported the victim to Eskenazi hospital in extremely critical condition. Despite the best life-saving efforts by medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries. 

Accident investigators responded to the scene and began canvassing the area for witnesses. During the initial investigation, a motorized scooter was located nearby and had received damage from an impact. Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was west on Morris St when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. Investigators do not have any suspect vehicle information to release at this time. The identity of the victim will be available through the Marion County Coroner’s Office once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
