Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Baywood last night.

A man was walking on Pine Aire Drive, near Harrison Avenue, when he was struck by a 1996 Honda Civic that was traveling westbound on Pine Aire Drive at approximately 10:45 p.m.

The victim, who has yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver of the Civic, Cesar Gonzalez Jr., 20, of Brentwood, New York, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
