Advisory: Press Release:

The City of Asbury Park Police Department has been investigating multiple reports of a subject fraudulently selling trailers online. The actor posted photographs of someone else’s trailer on Letgo. The buyer’s contact the actor and they agree on a meeting location which is not near the trailer. The buyer is told the location of the trailer and told to examine the trailer before they meet.  The seller uses the excuse that he is at work or that his father is ill and cannot leave to meet at the trailers location.  If the buyer likes the trailer, the buyer meets the actor at Super X-tra Market on Memorial Drive to make the payment.  After the payment is made, the actor provides the buyer with a fake bill of sale and a fake key to unlock the trailer.  By the time the buyer realizes the key is fake, the actor is gone.
The City of Asbury Park Detective Bureau took a juvenile actor into custody who is currently charged with four (4) counts of theft by deception as a result of four (4) different occurrences.  Anyone with further information about similar incidents, please contact the Asbury Park Detective Bureau at (732) 502-4534 or the City of Asbury Tip Line at (732) 988-1772.  Investigating the cases are Detective April Bird and Detective Sean De Shader.
