The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

November 7th

0844 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated a hit and run accident on the 39900 block of Balentine Drive.

1929 Hours: Officer Cervantes investigated a window smash auto burglary in the BJ’s parking lot, 5699 Mowry Avenue. The loss is a laptop computer and cash.

0504 Hours: Officer Lenz investigated a hit and run accident on the 5200 block of Sussex Place.

November 8th

0818 Hours: Officer Allum investigated a two vehicle non-injury accident on Central Avenue at Byington Drive.

1252 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated a theft from a vehicle that occurred at Bay Area Body Shop, 38472 Cedar Boulevard. Miscellaneous clothing and tools were taken from the unlocked vehicle.

1928 Hours: Officers responded to Mowry Avenue at Cherry Street for a solo vehicle rollover collision. While officers were in route, dispatch advised that several subjects had fled from the vehicle. Through Officer Johnson’s intensive investigation, a18-year-old male from Union City was located and arrested for hit & run and being unlicensed. The suspect was issued a citation and released from the Police Station.

0159 Hours: Officer Lenz observed a suspicious vehicle on Wells Avenue. The vehicle quickly pulled into the parking lot of an apartment complex next to the tracks on Elm Street. By the time Officer Lenz got to the vehicle, it was unoccupied and it was listed as stolen in Newark. A check of the area met with negative results.
