News Story - Burglary Suspect Arrested

Nature of Incident: Residential burglary suspect captured on home video surveillance arrested in the City of Ventura. Report Number: 17-169769 Location: Motel 6, 2145 E. Harbor Blvd, Ventura Date & Time: 11-7-2017, 1830 hours Unit Responsible: Thousand Oaks Investigations and Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit (S)uspects, (V)ictims, (P)arty, (D)ecedent City of Residence Age (S) Blake Northrop Oxnard 34 Narrative: On November 6, 2017, at about 8:15 am, the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 1300 block of Calle Crisantemo. The victim reported two unknown suspects entered his home and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of property which included motorcycles and home appliances. The homeowner’s video surveillance system recorded the crime. Surveillance video showed two suspects loading the stolen items into a large U-Haul box truck. Investigators from the Thousand Oaks Police Department contacted several U-Haul rental outlets and were able to identify one of the suspects as 34 year old Blake Northrop. Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned Northrop was staying at a motel in the City of Ventura and was still in possession of the U-Haul truck. On November 7, 2017, investigators located Northrop and the U-Haul at Motel 6 in the 2100 Blk of E Harbor Blvd, Ventura. A search warrant was obtained for Northrop’s motel room and with the assistance of the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit, Northrop was arrested and the search warrant was served. Investigators recovered almost all of the victim’s stolen property as well as a large quantity of methamphetamine and heroin. Blake Northrop was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail for Penal Code section 459 / Residential Burglary, two counts of Vehicle Code section 10851(a) / theft of a motor vehicle, Penal Code section 182(a)(1) / criminal conspiracy, Health and Safety Code section 11352(a) / possession of heroin for sales, Health and Safety Code section 11378(a) / possession of methamphetamine for sales, and Health and Safety Code section 11364(a) / possession of drug paraphernalia.
