Flood Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for Small Streams in Athens County until 2:15 PM, Monday, 11/06/17.

Observers reported heavy rain overnight that was causing flooding of many roads and low lying areas. Up to three inches of rain have fallen overnight. Although radar indicated that the heavy rain has moved east of the area, expect rises to bankfull, or above bankfull along Sunday Creek, the Hocking, and other small streams and creeks, especially between Athens and Glouster. Run off will continue through the early afternoon.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Athens, Glouster, Chauncey, Jacksonville, Trimble, Amesville, Stroud Run State Park, Burr Oak State Park Coolville and The Plains.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS;
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
