Modesto CA – A multi-agency investigation is currently underway for an officer-involved shooting that occurred early this morning in the 1700 Block Vivian Road in South Modesto.
On 11-05-17 at about 1:13 a.m., Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call in the 1700 Block of Vivian Road for domestic violence. Two deputies responded to the 911 call and arrived on scene at about 1:21 a.m. Shortly after arriving they broadcast that shots had been fired and a male at the residence was struck by gunfire. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the male to a local hospital for treatment. The condition of the suspect is not known, and he will not be identified in this press release.
Detectives are in the preliminary stages of their investigation, processing the crime scene and interviewing witnesses. The deputies were not injured, and only one of the deputies discharged his firearm. He will be placed on paid administrative leave which is standard protocol, and his name is not being released at this time.
Three separate and independent investigations have been launched into this officer-involved shooting. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department is conducting both a criminal and administrative investigation and the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office is conducting an independent review of the incident.
