On November 4, 2017, at 2:32 a.m. Deputy U.B. Smith observed a Maroon 1996 Ford Explorer speeding on US 41 near County Road 800 South. Upon conducting a traffic stop detected the odor of burnt Marijuana coming from the vehicle and began a roadside investigation. At the conclusion of his investigation 32 year old Detric Mitchell of Springfield, Illinois was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. At the Gibson County Jail Mr. Mitchell was charged with Operating a Vehicle Without Ever Receiving a Valid License, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, and Possession of Marijuana. He remains in custody on a $1300 bond.
