Incident: Woman Seriously Injured in Three Car Crash
Location: Expressway Drive South and Walt Whitman Road, Melville, New York
Date/Time: Friday, November 3, 2017 at approximately 12:20 p.m.
 
Suffolk County Second Squad detectives are investigating a three car crash that seriously injured a woman this afternoon.
 
Travis Jones was driving a 2003 GMC Yukon eastbound on the Long Island Expressway (LIE) South Service Road when his car struck a 2015 Nissan Altima at approximately 12:20 p.m. in Melville, New York. The driver of the Altima, Ashley Trickett, was traveling southbound on Walt Whitman Road and made a left hand turn onto the LIE South Service Road, when the collision occurred. The Altima then struck a 2016 Toyota Corolla being operated by Michelle Lee who was in front of the Altima and had also been traveling southbound on Walt Whitman Road before she made a left onto the LIE South Service Road.
 
Trickett, 30, of Levittown, New York, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where she was treated for serious injuries. Lee, 25, of Allendale, New Jersey, was transported to Plainview Hospital for minor injuries treated and released
 
Jones, 30, of Freeport, was not injured. His wife, Devona Sheppard, 27, and his four children, a 9-year-old girl, 8-year-old girl, 4-year-old boy, and a 2-year-old girl, were transported to Nassau University Medical Center where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
 
The investigation is continuing and all three cars were impounded for safety checks.
