A suspect is arrested after deputies find handguns and a highly explosive material in his possession

INCIDENT: Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed, Making a Destructive Device without a Permit, Altering the Identification Number of a Firearm
LOCATION: 6th Street / E Street
SUSPECT(S): Loren James Lunsford, 29-year old Victorville resident
SUMMARY: On November 1, 2017, deputies from the Victorville Police Department, responded to a man with a gun call near 6th and E Streets.
The reporting party stated a man was pulling a wagon near the railroad tracks and had what appeared to be an assault rifle strapped to his back. Deputies made contact with Loren Lunsford and discovered the rifle he had been carrying was an airsoft gun. However, Lunsford also had in his possession a loaded handgun, a second handgun with the serial number altered, a highly explosive material called tannerite, prescription narcotics not prescribed to Lunsford, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Lunsford was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for possession of a controlled substance while armed, making a destructive device without a permit, and altering the identification number of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on November 3, 2017.
