A 16 year old male student of Silverado High School is arrested for possession of a handgun on school campus

INCIDENT: Student Arrested for Possession of a Handgun on School Campus
LOCATION: Silverado High School, Victorville
SUSPECT: Male juvenile age 16
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at approximately 11:58 am, a Deputy/School Resource Officer from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the Silverado High School following a report by school administration that a student was found to be in possession of handgun in his backpack.
Upon arrival, the Deputy was advised by school administration that they had received information that a student on campus was believed to be in possession of a handgun. School staff and Security personnel made contact with the student and located a handgun in his backpack and a loaded magazine in a separate pocket of the backpack.
The student was interviewed by the deputy and subsequently arrested, transported and booked into Juvenile Hall for possession of a handgun on school campus.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information for release at this time. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
