The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

October 28th

1047 Hours: Officer Taylor recovered a reported stolen 1996 Honda Accord on Dichondra Court. The registered owner was notified of the recovery.

1105 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated an auto vs. pedestrian traffic collision which occurred in the intersection of Mayhews Landing Road and Dijon Drive. The injured pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.

1445 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated an auto burglary in the parking lot at Newpark Mall. The loss was a guitar and tools.

0123 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 25 year old transient male for public intoxication in the O’Sullivans parking lot, 5660 Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0205 Hours: Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 39-year-old Seaside male for driving under the influence, evading a police officer and driving without a license on the 5700 block of St. Paul Avenue. Officer Wallace assisted and arrested a 27-year-old Pinole female for public intoxication. Both suspects were booked into the Fremont Jail.

October 29th

2018 Hours: Officer Piquette and Field Training Officer Arroyo responded to the 6100 block of Jarvis Avenue to investigate three window smash auto burglaries. The loss is purses and a backpack.

2124 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated a single vehicle non-injury auto accident on Central Avenue at Central Court.

2143 Hours: Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 36-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on Mayhews Landing Road at Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

October 30th

0922 Hours: Officer Quinonez and Field Training Officer Musantry investigated a vandalism incident at the Montessori School, 37815 Birch Street. An unknown person shot a window with a BB gun.

1520 Hours: Officer Jackman accepted the citizen’s arrest of a shoplifter in custody at Macy’s NewPark Mall. The 31-year-old San Francisco male was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1641 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated a credit fraud case. The victim was notified of fraudulent activity on her credit card by the card issuer. The victim also reported an additional credit card was opened under her name and SSI number with a different creditor.

2042 Hours: Officer D. Johnson documented two window smash auto-burglaries that occurred in the parking lot of Isla Restaurant, 5720 Mowry School Road. The loss is laptop computers and electronic equipment.
