CITY WISHES RESIDENTS A SAFE AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN

The City of Simi Valley would like to wish its residents a safe, Happy Halloween. As the City Council explores ways to ensure that children are safe on this holiday, and every day in the community, the City would like to provide a few safety tips:

• Parents may check www.meganslaw.ca.gov to identify homes with residents in their neighborhood who have been convicted as a sexual offender.
• Parents are recommended to stay with children under the age of 12 as they trick or treat.
• Older children are recommended to travel in groups and stay in well-lit areas.
• Children of all ages are recommended to be reminded to never enter the home of someone they do not know.

Halloween can also be celebrated by attending a Halloween event, such as the Halloween Carnival hosted by the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District. For more information please visit www.rsprd.com. Residents are also encouraged to look for community events such as “trunk or treats” often held at local churches and schools.

The City Council takes the safety of its residents, especially its youngest, very seriously. Should you see any suspicious or illegal behavior, please call 911 and report it immediately to the Simi Valley Police Department.

For more Halloween safety tips, citizens may contact the Simi Valley Police Department’s Crime Prevention Specialist, Jean Marie Maroshek at (805) 583-6276.

Please enjoy Halloween and stay safe.
