Halloween Safety - Check Your Candy
In order to assist the Calaveras County community in enjoying this fun-filled holiday as safely as possible, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office just wanted to send a reminder with the following Halloween safety tips for our children and their parents:
1. Before your kids eat their Halloween treats, make sure you check the packaging for signs of tampering and also that the candy is safe for children consumption.
Edible forms of marijuana like snacks and candies are becoming more readily accessible in today’s society. Marijuana infused candy now comes in many forms including cookies, lollipops, gummy bears, candy bars, etc. (see pictures)
Please inspect (look and smell) at the candy to ensure it is safe for your child.
2. Wear reflective clothing and have your kids carry a flashlight or attach a glow stick to their costume.
3. Small children should be accompanied by older ones, or by an adult.
4. If you are out and about driving in Calaveras County, be very aware of your surroundings and watch out for pedestrians.
Have a safe and Happy Halloween from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office
