Pedestrian killed after being struck by two vehicles

On 10/29/17, at approximately 6:42 PM, the Chula Vista Police Department received several 911 calls reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by several vehicles and was pinned underneath a vehicle.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered that an adult male had been struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Broadway. The first vehicle stopped at the scene as the pedestrian was run over by a second vehicle also traveling northbound on Broadway. The driver of the second vehicle stopped her vehicle as the pedestrian remained pinned underneath her vehicle.

The victim sustained traumatic injuries to his head and extremities. The victim would succumb to his injuries and pronounced deceased at the scene at 1850 hours.

Several witnesses to the collision saw the first vehicle strike the victim, causing him to vault over the vehicle. The victim landed in the roadway and was run over by the second vehicle.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. Both drivers that struck the victim were not under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

The Chula Vista Police Traffic Division will be conducting the investigation.
