* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania, including the following areas, in New Jersey, Atlantic, Atlantic Coastal Cape May, Camden, Cape May, Coastal Atlantic, Coastal Ocean, Cumberland, Eastern Monmouth, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Northwestern Burlington, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Southeastern Burlington, and Western Monmouth. * Rain will overspread the area this morning. The rain will be heavy at times this afternoon and at least into the early evening. Rainfall amounts will generally be between 1 and 3 inches. However, a band of locally heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms is expected to setup somewhere between the Delaware Valley and the New Jersey coast. Locations underneath this band could receive 3 to 5 inches of rain.

* Heavy rainfall occurring in short period of time would result in rapidly rising water levels along streams and creeks. Poor drainage, which is common this time of year due to leaf debris, could exacerbate flooding. Localized roadway flooding is possible.

* AFFECTED AREAS: ATLANTIC ... ATLANTIC COASTAL CAPE MAY ... CAMDEN ... CAPE MAY ... COASTAL ATLANTIC ... COASTAL OCEAN ... CUMBERLAND ... EASTERN MONMOUTH ... GLOUCESTER ... HUNTERDON ... MERCER ... MIDDLESEX ... NORTHWESTERN BURLINGTON ... OCEAN ... SALEM ... SOMERSET ... SOUTHEASTERN BURLINGTON ... WESTERN MONMOUTH

Instructions:

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. Check for blocked drainages caused by fallen leaves and remove debris before the heavy rain arrives.
