On October 28, 2017, at 12:13 a.m. Deputy U.B. Smith conducted a traffic stop on a White 1991 Cadillac for speeding on State Road 165 near County Road 575 South. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith detected the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Deputy Smith then began a roadside DUI investigation that resulted in the driver 33 year old Nathan Owen of Fort Branch, Indiana being taken into custody. During the investigation a passenger in the vehicle 25 year old Erica Booth of Fort Branch was also taken into custody when after being released from the scene twice to a family member who came to pick her up she exited their vehicle and returned to the scene being loud and verbally abusive to officers on scene.

Both Mr. Owen and Ms. Booth were transported to the Gibson County Jail. Nathan Owen charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated/ Refusal and remains in custody on a $650 bond. Ms. Booth was charged with Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct. She remains in custody on a $550 bond.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
