Mt. Wilson Fire Update, 70% containment and forest closure order is lifted.

ARCADIA, Calif.; Oct. 26, 2017 – Angeles National Forest officials are terminating the area closure for the Wilson Fire effective Friday, Oct. 27. The fire remains at approximately 50 acres with 70 percent containment. Officials say the area, roads and trails in the vicinity of the Wilson Fire are open again because the potential for rapid growth has diminished.

Jeffrey Vail, Angeles Forest Supervisor says, “The area is open again, but we encourage everyone to remain alert for possible hazards when in areas impacted by the fire or our response to it, such as rolling rocks and logs, dead standing trees and stump holes. Thank you for your support during the firefighting efforts on the Wilson Fire.”

Incident personnel will continue restoration work in the fire area to repair impacts to trails and other features in addition to mopping up and reinforcing firelines.

This will be the last update for the Wilson Fire unless significant activity occurs. For more information, see the forest website, www.fs.usda.gov/angeles, Twitter @Angeles_NF, Facebook and Inciweb https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/5649/
