Three vehicle collision results in a fatality 
On 10/26/17, at approximately 9:12 AM, the Chula Vista Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a three vehicle collision at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Orange Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and discovered that an elderly adult female driver was critically injured.
The on-scene investigation determined that the elderly female driver was traveling northbound on Fourth Avenue as a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Orange Avenue. Both vehicles entered the intersection and collided. The force of the collision caused the elderly female’s vehicle to rotate counter-clockwise and strike a vehicle that was stopped in the turn pocket.
The elderly female sustained traumatic injuries to her head and was transported to Scripps Mercy Trauma Center. Despite life-saving efforts the female would succumb to her injuries at the hospital.
The drivers were not under the influence of alcohol/drugs at the time of the collision.
The Chula Vista Police Traffic Division will be conducting the investigation.
