The Upper Macungie Township Police Department has an important message for you! *Halloween Message from Chief Colón*
*The following message is sent on behalf of Chief Colón:
Good afternoon!
This Friday, October 27th, is Trick-or-Treat night in Upper Macungie Township (6-8 pm). We hope all of Upper Macungie Township's little ghosts and goblins have a wonderful, SAFE night of fun with parents and loved ones. As our officers charge up our proton packs and pack up a trusty supply of wooden stakes, we ask that you review some of our most important safety tips before you begin your quest for sugary delight!
1.Trick-or-treat is always more fun (and safe) in groups than alone. Walk in groups and always with an adult.
2. Keep a flashlight handy, and when you see vehicles approaching, be sure that you use the flashlight to alert motorists of your presence.
3. It’s not a race! Take your time and WALK from house to house, don’t run. If there are crosswalks and sidewalks, always use them!
4. If there are no sidewalks, step off the roadway until vehicles pass.
5. See a hazardous situation? Possibly a motorist who is driving recklessly? We want to know about it NOW, and our officers want to help! Contact Lehigh County Communications non-emergency police dispatch at 610-437-5252. Always use 911 in emergencies.
Thank you, and have a safe night!
Respectfully,
Edgardo A. Colón
Chief of Police
