Fatal Traffic Collision on Mojave Drive and Ferndale Road

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at approximately 7:07p.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Department and rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision, at the intersection of Mojave Drive and Ferndale Road.
Upon arrival, deputies determined a black Nissan 200 was traveling east on Mojave Drive near Ferndale Road. A pedestrian crossing Mojave Drive, outside of a marked cross walk, was struck by the Nissan.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Nissan was treated and released at the scene.
Deputies with the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Mojave Drive near Ferndale Road was closed during the investigation and reopened at approximately 2:15 a.m.
