Press Release: Motor Vehicle Crash

On October 24, 2017 at 8:53 am, the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to Route 40 in the area of New York Ave for a motor vehicle crash.

Investigation revealed that a Ford minivan operated by Jeffrey Chudzinski, age 38, of Mays Landing was traveling westbound on Route 40 when he swerved into the eastbound lane.  A BMW driven by Tracie Johnson, age 57, of Mays Landing was traveling eastbound and attempted to avoid the collision by swerving.  Chudzinski struck the left rear portion of Johnson’s vehicle then crashed head on into a Dodge Wagon JAC Medi Transport Van operated by Jean Torres-Malpica, age 26, of Vineland.  The impact forced the Dodge backwards into a Kia Rio operated by Jeremy Allen, age 29, of Millville.

One adult passenger in the JAC Medi van suffered facial injuries.  No other injuries were reported.

Chudzinski was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Suspended, Unlicensed Driver, Failure to Maintain Lane, Careless Driving, Reckless Driving, CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Heroin and Operating a Motor Vehicle During a Period of License Suspension for DWI.  Chudzinski was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on several unrelated warrants.

The eastbound lane was shut down for approximately one hour while the scene was cleared.  Township of Hamilton Rescue assisted at the scene.
