Sheriff’s Office Detectives Identify Suspect in Officer Involved Shooting

Modesto CA – Sheriff’s Office detectives continue to investigate the officer involved shooting that occurred early on Sunday morning in South Modesto.

Preliminary investigation shows that on 10-22-17 at about 1:08 a.m., two Ceres PD officers were in pursuit of a vehicle, driven by 27-year-old Nicholas Adam Pimentel of Modesto. The vehicle pursuit ended at Imperial Avenue and Ustick Road in the unincorporated area of Modesto. At about 1:10 a.m., officers advised their radio communications that they were involved in a shooting and Pimentel was struck by gunfire. Emergency services personnel arrived, and Pimentel was transported to the emergency room where he later died. The officers involved in the shooting were not injured.

The names of the two officers will not be released at this time. They each have over 15 year’s law enforcement experience, and both are currently on administrative leave per their department policy.

While the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office continues their criminal investigation into the officer-involved shooting, the Ceres Police Department will conduct an administrative investigation and the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office will conduct an independent review.

No further details are being released at this time.
