Homicide Investigation Update: 3 Suspects taken into custody

Update:  Fremont Officers took 3 suspects into custody in connection with the Saturday night homicide a short time ago.  Due to the ongoing investigation, no further details will be released today.

Original Message:
Fremont Crimes Against Persons Detectives are actively investigating a homicide that occurred late Saturday night.

On Saturday, October 21, 2017, at approximately 11:34 p.m., the Fremont Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a shooting.  The caller stated a man was in the lobby of the Extended Stay America Hotel located in the 5300 block of Farwell Drive, suffering from what appeared to be a gun shot wound.  Several patrol officers immediately responded to the scene and found the injured victim just outside the lobby.  Recognizing the victim's injuries were life threatening, officers administered field trauma aid, which included the use of an AED, prior to paramedics arriving.

The victim was transported to a trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries.  The male victim is a 48 year old Fremont resident.  The Alameda County Coroner has responded and no further details will be released about the victim until next of kin notifications are made.

The Fremont Police Department’s Investigative Unit was called out and has taken over the investigation.  A crime scene was located in a hotel room and this appears to be an isolated incident, where the victim and suspect may have known each other.

The investigation remains active today and we have no additional details that will be released at this time.  We will send out updates as information becomes available and when it is case appropriate.  Anyone with information  about this incident is asked to please call the Fremont Police Department’s Investigative Unit at 510-790-6900 or send us an anonymous tip by texting TIP FREMONTPD followed by your message to 888-777, or via the web at https://local.nixle.com/tip/alert/6216337.

This is the first homicide our department has investigated in 2017.  The last reported homicide in Fremont was in September of 2015.
