Board of Water Supply (BWS) crews continue to work on the broken 12-inch main in the Kalanianaole Hwy. medial strip, between Nenue St. and West Hind Dr.
Only 2 lanes of west-bound traffic remain open. Avoid the area if possible or drive with caution when passing through. Holy Nativity School, near the break site, has an annual Pumpkin Fest, that may result in additional traffic in that corridor. Meanwhile, the BWS continues to work with State and City agencies to implement traffic mitigation measures.
There are water wagons placed on Wailupe Circle and at 5233 Kalanianaole Highway in the area for the residents who are without water service. A third is currently en route and will be placed on Punahele Place.
The BWS anticipates its work to continue throughout this weekend, due to the presence of other underground utilities that is complicating repair work. The 12-inch main was originally installed in 1927.
