Attempted Sexual Assault
Upper Fire Trail
UCPD Case # 17-02916
On Friday, October 20, 2017 UCPD received a call regarding an attempted sexual assault on the Upper Fire Trail.  The female victim, a student, was jogging on the trail at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2017 when the male suspect ran up from behind and tackled her to the ground.  The suspect attempted to remove the victim’s shorts and fondled her.  The victim fought the suspect off and he ran away. 
The suspect was described as:
A White male in his 50s, with a medium build, gray collar length hair, a gray full beard and wearing khaki pants.

  • Rape and sexual assault are never the fault of the survivor. It is the behavior of the perpetrator that is wrong.
  • 80% of sexual assault and rapes are perpetrated by someone known to the survivor, and on college campuses 90% of survivors know their attacker.
  • Sexual assault and rape can happen to people in all contexts, including marriage, dating relationships, friendships, child-parent interactions, employer-attendant relationships and stranger interactions.
