On Friday night, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Newman PD and deputies were dispatched to a drive-by shooting on Orestimba Road and Interstate 5. When they arrived at Orestimba Road and Bell Road outside of Newman, CA, they found two women who had been shot. Emergency services personnel attempted life-saving measures, but both women were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives spent the night processing the crime scene and attempting to locate witnesses. Both victims’ identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification, and there is no suspect information at this time.
This is a remote area of the county and detectives are asking anyone with information to call Detective Hickman at 525-7042.
